Massage Practice

For as long as I can remember, I have been the person that friends and family came to and asked to be massaged-

“Can you rub my shoulders?”, “Do you have time to release my legs?”, “Can you stretch my back?”

Throughout my professional dance career and teaching- I have been deeply curious about the human body, the potential, the healing… the challenges. I have always wanted to find ways to make the people I care bout feel better, healthier, happier in their structures.

When I retired from performing, a bit abruptly due to a devastating injury, the call to help people and focus on others- away from my own injury was intense. I did the Doula training attended a few births and knew that my hands-on knowledge and nurturing desire was the next call.

Researching the colleges and training programs in BC for Massage, I really fluctuated in my decision to return to school; It had been over 20 years since I had been in a full time learning environment and I had just finished paying off my student loans from my professional dance training! I applied for a full-time Retraining grant from the Dancer Transition Resource Centre and opted to enroll at Vancouver School of Bodywork and Massage. This is a 6 month full time spa practitioner training program, but with no aesthetics; I do not do facials, manicures, pedicures or hair removal. I received my full support grant from the DTRC and incredible training in massage, anatomy and physiology, all with the option to transfer my hours towards the RMT program if I ever choose to continue my education. I work within the parameters of my training and refer out to RMTs for anything that would fall out of my scope of practice, supporting my local community of fellow body-workers and RMTs to the full extent.

I am constantly expanding on my knowledge and approach to the body, the emotional and physical needs of every client, the instinctual and sensitive knowledge of touch. My desire when I massage, is for every client to feel heard, nurtured and perhaps changed a little?

Relax, unwind, release and feel safe.

In 2009 I graduated with highest honors from the Vancouver School of Bodywork and Massage (VSBM); gaining both expertise and refined experience in many spa modalities such as Swedish, Deep Tissue Massage, Deep Flow, Hot Stone, Reflexology and Shiatsu.   I have also completed the Pregnancy Massage Course through VSBM, continued training with Cranial Sacral courses and apply all my years of dance training and teaching experience to ensure each client receives a thoughtful and unique treatment.
